Privacy Policy
When EdUHK collects information from you, it is our policy to meet fully the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (“PDPO”) in relation to the collection, use, retention, transfer and access of personal data. This Policy governs how EdUHK handles personal data (“Information”) you provide to us on the ECE Job Search Platform ("Platform"). Unless otherwise defined, capitalized terms in this Policy have the same meaning as defined in the Terms of Use of the Platform.
Words importing the singular include the plural and vice versa, words importing a gender include every gender and references to persons include bodies corporate or incorporate.
1. Purposes for which Information is collected and used
The purposes for which EdUHK collects, uses and maintains Information include the following:
(a) Information submitted by Jobseeker will be used for the purpose of assisting him/her to find appropriate employment with Employer and assisting Employer to assess the suitability of candidates for a job vacancy within the Employer's organization in the manner specified under the Terms of Use.
(b) Information submitted by Jobseeker and Employer will be used by EdUHK to verify their identity and eligibility for using the Platform.
(c) Information submitted by Jobseeker and Employer will be used by EdUHK to produce usage data of the Platform and statistical analysis in aggregate form.
(d) Information submitted by Jobseeker in the Open Folder will be used for Candidate Search and may be automatically released to Employer.
(e) Information submitted by Jobseeker in the Hidden Folder may be provided to Employer only at Jobseeker’s option.
2. Transfer of Information
You are aware, agree and authorize that all Information collected will be retained by and stored in EdUHK databases and may be provided to, disclosed to, accessed by and transferred within or outside Hong Kong to:
(i) Employer;
(ii) any person whom the Employer or EdUHK is required by applicable legal, governmental or regulatory requirements to make disclosure;
(iii) any other person reasonably requiring the same in order for Employer to carry out the purposes for which the Information are to be used as mentioned in the Terms of Use;
(iv) service providers of EdUHK.
You further agree that EdUHK may disclose your Information when such release is reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or interest of EdUHK or in circumstances which EdUHK considers to be related to any of the purposes for which the Information are collected.
3. Employer's obligation under the PDPO
The Employer is required to apply and follow the laws and principles of the PDPO.
4. Accessing and correcting Information
You have a right to request access to and correction of Information collected from you. If you wish to obtain a copy of any of your Information or if you believe that the Information relating to you which EdUHK collects and maintains is inaccurate, you may make the relevant data access request in accordance with the PDPO. The request should be sent to EdUHK Administrator of the Platform by email via CONTACT US. In accordance with the PDPO, EdUHK has the right to charge a reasonable fee for the processing of any data access request.
Jobseeker can delete, correct or update his or her own Information by logging into his / her account and changing the Information via the My Resume section of the Platform.
5. Retention of Personal Details
Subject to legal requirements, the personal data of Jobseeker and Employer will otherwise be retained by EdUHK for not more than 3 months after cessation of the relevant service under any of the following circumstances:
- from the date Jobseeker formally terminates his / her registration for the Platform;
- from the date EdUHK terminates the account and/or registration of Jobseeker for the Platform;
- from the date Employer terminates his registration for the Platform or from the date EdUHK terminates Employer’s registration or the provision of Services to the Employer under the Terms of Use.
- The personal information of job applicants (if any) on the Internship page will be kept for 5 years.
6. Policy Changes
This Policy may be changed from time to time in order to stay up to date with the latest legal requirements and our privacy management practices. Such changes will be effective straightaway. We will usually publish information about changes to be made to this Policy, but it is your responsibility to check in and make sure you keep up to date with any changes to this Policy.
